Confessions apparently weren’t the only thing happening after church. 

A priest from the United States was reportedly exposed for allegedly using church donations to fund trips to Mexico to visit prost*tutes. The priest, identified as Emmanuel Shaleta from San Diego, was said to have crossed the border to Tijuana  multiple times, where he allegedly visited the well-known Hong Kong Gentlemen’s Club brothel. Reports claim the visits were paid for using money collected from church donations. 

The situation reportedly began to unravel when another church staff member noticed unusual activity in the financial records, raising concerns about where the donated funds were actually going. 

As questions grew, authorities later detained the priest at an airport while he was reportedly attempting to leave the country, bringing the controversy fully into public attention. 

The incident has sparked uncomfortable conversations about accountability and trust. When people donate to a church, many wonder how much trust they are truly placing in the person responsible for handling those funds.
