Drivers ‘must’ have this item in their cars from this week

A cold morning can quickly create risky driving conditions, especially when windscreens fog up. What seems like a small inconvenience can become a serious hazard in seconds.

Many drivers make the mistake of clearing only a small patch of their windscreen and assuming the rest will improve while driving. This approach can significantly limit visibility.

According to the Highway Code, drivers must have a clear, unobstructed view of the road at all times. Failing to do so can result in penalties or fines.

Condensation builds rapidly on damp mornings, turning pedestrians, cyclists, and junctions into blurred shapes. This reduced visibility increases the risk of accidents.

If an incident occurs, partial visibility may be viewed as negligence. What seems like a minor shortcut can carry serious legal and safety consequences.

Fortunately, the solution is simple and inexpensive. Keeping a cloth in the car and taking a few extra minutes to properly clear the windscreen can make a significant difference.

Allowing demisters to fully work before driving also improves visibility and safety. These small steps help ensure better control and awareness on the road.

In the end, a little preparation can prevent costly mistakes. Clear visibility is essential, and taking the time to ensure it can protect both drivers and others on the road.
