When I asked specific questions about the hospital, procedure, and doctors involved, my mother became impatient and insisted I “just send the money.” Instead of arguing, I calmly asked for verification before transferring anything. To confirm my suspicions, I drove to the hospital they had named and checked admissions myself. There was no record of my sister ever being there.
